Ode to the Exceptions

I love old sayings and adages, but they never account for exceptions which are always more interesting to me. Here are some of my favorites:

Ignorance is bliss – unless you’re taking your driver’s test.

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow – unless it’s CPR.

Don’t run from your problems – unless your problem is a bear.

It’s as easy as pie – unless you’re trying to make a meringue.

Curiosity killed the cat – according to the dog.

Two heads are better than one – unless you picked tails.

Save for a rainy day – unless you have solar.

With age comes wisdom – but it costs memory.

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth – or under its tail.

The meek shall inherit the Earth – after the strong have taken all its resources.

It’s always darkest before dawn – unless there’s a total eclipse at noon.

Look before you leap – unless the building is on fire.

You’re never too old to learn – unless you’re trying to play video games.

Many hands make light work – means you need better workers.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you – especially your proctologist.

Enjoy your weekend, tomorrow is a new day!
